There are differences in these accommodations, including the law that they are defined under.  Please see the attached sheet developed by Oakland Community College that highlights the differences.  If your student is heading off to college and has an IEP currently, this is great information.

Great new resource in downtown Northville - Living and Learning.

The offer groups for teens and adults who have Asperger's Syndrome, ASD, Receptive Language Difficulties, ADHD or Anxiety Issues that impact their social skills. Currently they offer three programs -  A Friday Night Teen Hang Out,  Thursday Night Adult Meet and Greet (age 21 and over) and a Parent Support Group that will meet for 5 sessions on Wednesdays from 10-11am starting on Nov. 11th.

Novi Police and Fire Departments partner with Autism Alliance of Michigan for a Safety Fair on October 24

I read about this on the Local Stew Novi Website.  It looks like a great opportunity to learn more about safety options for students and adults with Special Needs.   The event will take place on October 24 from 10-1 at the Novi Police Department.

Michigan State University is sponsoring a program titled "Access and Success For Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder" on November 21st from 10am - 3pm.

The program will highlight programs available for students with ASD and information on how to improve access and supports for college students who are on the spectrum.
