Community Input Meeting

TELL US WHAT YOU WANT!

The Arc of Oakland County and The Arc of Macomb County are co-hosting a local "Affinity Group" meeting to discuss the "Section 298 Initiative," that is, the potential for privatization of community mental health services.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is asking people with mental illness, emotional disorder, developmental or intellectual disability, or substance use disorder, and their family members, what supports and services they need or want.

This is a follow-up to Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley's workgroup on the Section 298 boilerplate that was in the Governor Rick Snyder's budget recommending privatizing behavioral health services. The boilerplate was changed, but the MDHHS needs to write a report to legislators about suggestions for improving the service system.

To collect information, a survey was developed.  The MDHHS is asking concerned agencies to host group meetings to ask people the survey questions.  The Oakland-Macomb meeting is scheduled for:

October 17, 2016
7pm - 9pm

The Troy Community Center
